What is the GoHighlevel Affiliate Manager
This tool is used within the GoHighlevel platform, which allows its users to recruit affiliates to sell their products or services. This tool is integrated into GoHighlevel but is run by first promoter.
What is GoHighlevel/Highlevel?
GoHighlevel, or just Highlevel as its users call it, is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform for marketing agencies and small businesses. The GoHighlevel platform offers every tool needed to run a business successfully at a fixed monthly cost. The GoHighlevel platform allows you to Whitelabel their software so agencies can use this platform and brand it like it was their own. This allows agencies to create a Software as a Service (SaaS) business and an additional monthly recurring revenue stream.
Typically, agencies would perform a job for their client, like building a website or running Facebook ads, only to have the job end or the client cancel their service. Now, agencies have to continue to market to find another client. Now, with GoHighlevel, you can migrate your clients off whatever CRM, email marketing tool, phone system, or funnel software they may be using and run their business entirely off the GoHighlevel platform.
The best thing about this is that your clients pay you monthly for these services. You can charge $297, $497, or whatever you want to charge for these services, and your client continues to pay for these each month like a utility, creating a stable recurring monthly revenue.
GoHighlevel sets no limits for its users on any paid plan so that you can have unlimited contacts, websites, funnels, email or text templates, and workflows. There are also no limits for storage, so you can host as many videos, files, documents, or images as you or your clients may have.

What is an Affiliate?
An affiliate is a person or entity that partners with a company to promote and sell its products or services. The affiliate acts as a marketing intermediary between the company (often referred to as the “merchant” or “advertiser”) and potential customers. Affiliates earn a commission for each successful sale, lead, or action generated through their promotional efforts.
The process typically works like this:
1. Affiliate Program: The company establishes an affiliate program, which outlines the terms and conditions for affiliates to participate. This program includes details about commission rates, payment methods, tracking systems, and promotional guidelines.
2. Affiliates Sign Up: Individuals or businesses interested in promoting the company’s products or services sign up for the affiliate program. They receive unique affiliate links or codes to track their referrals upon approval.
3. Promotional Efforts: Affiliates use various marketing channels, such as websites, blogs, social media, email lists, or advertising, to promote the company’s products or services. They incorporate their affiliate links into the promotional content.
4. Customer Referrals: When potential customers click on an affiliate link and make a purchase or take the desired action (such as signing up for a service or filling out a form), the affiliate’s tracking system records the referral.
5. Commission and Payment: The company’s affiliate tracking system attributes the referral to the respective affiliate and calculates the commission or payment based on the agreed-upon terms. The company pays the affiliates regularly (e.g., monthly) or after reaching a minimum payout threshold.
Affiliate marketing is a popular and cost-effective way for companies to expand their reach and increase sales, as it allows them to tap into the networks and expertise of various affiliates. For affiliates, it can be a source of passive income, provided they effectively promote products or services that align with their audience’s interests and needs.
The GoHighlevel platform has an affiliate tracking system with no additional monthly charge. Let’s take a look at it.
How to set up the Affiliate Manager in GoHighlevel?
To access the affiliate manager go to the Marketing menu option, then select the Affiliate Manager tab.
The Affiliate Manager consists of four separate tools.
Campaigns
This can be unclear, or it was to me when I saw how to use this area. You must create a campaign for the products or services you want your affiliate network to sell. Affiliate links are generated at the campaign level for your affiliates to use.
Each campaign must point to a website or funnel-specific page, and the page they point to must also have a product or products listed on that page that the affiliate is to sell. The website or funnel must also have a distinct URL configured. This is required so that the generated affiliate link will be unique.
Let’s take a look at the campaign setup settings. When in the affiliate manager campaign area, click the button to create a new campaign. Here is what you get.
Campaign Name
You need to give your campaign a name and be descriptive of the product or service you are selling so you can see at a moment’s glance what the campaign is for.
Referral/Lead Signup
This is where you must select the website or funnel, in Gohighlevel, that you want to use for your affiliates. You must select which type to use, select the website or funnel to use, and select the page on the website or funnel that you are directing your affiliates to. If you do not have a dedicated URL for the website or funnel, you will get this error and not be allowed to proceed.
Add Products
This link will open another popup that allows you to select at least one but possibly multiple products you sell. You must include all products or services you want available to your affiliates. If you do not have any products on the page, the setup screen will tell you that, and you must do that before getting the campaign set up.
Campaign Description
This is where you can describe what the campaign is for. It is optional, but a great idea to include a detailed description in case team members review it later so they can determine what its purpose is.
Add Affiliates
You can create the campaign without adding affiliates, but the campaign can’t go live. Before adding affiliates in this area, they must be added to the affiliate manager. See the Affiliates area below in this article for details on adding affiliates to the affiliate manager. When you add affiliates to the campaign, they get sent an email indicating they have been added, and will also send them their affiliate link to promote the campaign. For more information, you can review the Email Templates area later in this article.
Pay Out Frequency
You have to set the frequency at which you pay your affiliates in this area. Here are the options you are allowed. Typically, people use Pay-30.
Commission Type
You have to set how your affiliates are getting paid. You can choose a Flat Commission or a Percentage Commission. If you use a Flat Commission, the affiliates only get a certain amount for referring your products or services. Still, the Percentage Commission allows the affiliate to get paid a certain percentage of the product or service.
Email Template
When you add affiliates to this campaign, they get an email welcoming them to your program and also generate an affiliate link custom for them that they can use to promote your campaign. There is a default template that Gohighlevel uses below, but you can use the Email template feature of GoHighlevel to create a nice branded email to send to your affiliates. When you create your email template, it will appear in the dropdown list for you to select. Here is the default email sent.
Cookie Life
The Cookie Life is used when someone clicks on the affiliate link a cookie is installed that will give the affiliate credit for the sale of your product as long as the customer buys within the Cookie Life. You can set this to from 1-365 days. Typically, 60-90 is reasonable.
Typically, a customer will click on an affiliate link to review the offer, then they will not buy and close the browser. They may return directly to the site the next day to purchase the product without clicking on the affiliate link. Hence, Cookie Life ensures that the affiliate will get credit for the sale if the customer clicks on the affiliate link and then purchases within Cookie Life.
Affiliates
This is where you can add all your affiliates to your affiliate manager. Just remember that just because your affiliates are in your GoHighlevel CRM does not make them an affiliate in the affiliate manager. You have to add them manually to this feature. GoHighlevel has made this process reasonably easy by providing several options. Once you click on the Add button, you are presented with several options.
If you want to add the Affiliate manually, choose New Affiliate, but you can also upload a CSV file with all your affiliates, or you can import them from the CRM if they are already set up or any combination of these options.
Let’s look at creating an Affiliate from scratch.
Just fill out the information in the form, noting the red asterisk is a required field.
Once you have added your Affiliates, you must still add them to a campaign before they get an email with their affiliate link.
Payouts
This is your Dashboard letting you know how much has been paid to affiliates. You can click on the download button in the top right corner to download the CSV spreadsheet to review all the data locally.
Media
This area of the Affiliate Manager allows you to share any marketing materials your affiliates can use to help promote your products or services. It could be logos, marketing images, videos, or documents you have that can help them. You can create folders to help organize these documents and upload them. These files are then available to affiliates to use in their funnels or landing pages to help sell your product or services.
Affiliate Manager Automation in GoHighlevel
When dealing with thousands of affiliates signing up to sell your products or services, you will need a certain level of automation to help you. GoHighlevel has already provided this automation into its workflows to allow you to automate many of these steps.
Most companies offering affiliate programs have a signup page on their website. When potential affiliates go to your website and review your affiliate signup page describing all the benefits your program offers, you will have a signup now button. Most companies will direct these potential affiliates to a funnel or signup page where the required information can be gathered. In the GoHighlevel platform, you can build a funnel with a form to gather all the required fields using the built-in form builder.
Once a potential affiliate fills out this form, you can use that action to trigger a workflow that can process whatever business logic you need to get an affiliate set up in your affiliate manager. Let’s look at an example workflow to automate this process.
This workflow uses the Form Submitted action to trigger the start. Once the potential affiliate fills out the form, they get added to the GoHighlevel CRM. The contact gets tagged as “Affiliate,” so you can find these people easily in your CRM. The team gets notified of the new affiliate signup. You can then automatically add this person to your Affiliate Manager and add them to a specific campaign you have configured.
So, if you get a signup on your website, GoHighlevel can do all the work to set up the affiliate in the affiliate manager. Talk about automation. SWEET RIGHT!!!
