Creating Custom Fields in GoHighlevel 

To create a custom field, login to GoHighlevel, then go to Settings > Custom Fields.

Click the Add Field, and then you must select the type of data you want to hold in the custom field.

So if you wanted to create a custom field to hold a contact’s anniversary date, select the Date Picker since that would be the best fit for the data you want to collect.

If you select a data type on the left side, GoHighlevel will present you with a preview on the right to make sure you choose the correct one. 

Once you select the data type, click next.

Name: This is the name GoHighlevel will refer to the new field.

Object: The only option is Contact.

Group: The options to select are Contact, General Info, and Additional Info. This will determine where the field resides on the contacts form. If you choose Contact, the field will be on the main contact form screen. If you choose either General Info or Additional Info, the data will be in a group area that must be expanded before you can view it.

Once the field is created, it will appear in the contact record. This field was added at the contact level.

Where can you use custom fields in GoHighlevel?

Once you create a custom field, it can be used anywhere and everywhere that any other CRM contact field can be used. So that means in a workflow, an email, an SMS message, even the social planner. You can access custom fields anywhere you see this tag system or the custom value menu.
