What is GoHighlevel/Highlevel?
GoHighlevel, or just Highlevel as its users call it, is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform for marketing agencies and small businesses. The GoHighlevel platform offers every tool needed to run a business successfully at a fixed monthly cost. The GoHighlevel platform allows you to Whitelabel their software so agencies can use this platform and brand it like it was their own. This allows agencies to create a Software as a Service (SaaS) business and an additional monthly recurring revenue stream.
Typically agencies would perform a job for their client like building a website or running Facebook ads only to have the job end or the client cancel their service. Now, agencies have to continue to market to find another client. Now with GoHighlevel, you can migrate your clients off whatever CRM, email marketing tool, phone system, or funnel software they may be using and run their business entirely off the GoHighlevel platform. The best thing about this is that your clients pay you monthly for these services. You can charge $297, $497, or whatever you want to charge for these services and your client continues to pay for these each month like a utility creating a stable recurring monthly revenue.
GoHighlevel sets no limits for its users on any paid plan so you can have unlimited contacts, websites, funnels, email or text templates, and workflows. There are also no limits for storage so you can host as many videos, files, documents, or images as you or your clients may have.

What is a Custom Field?
In GoHighLevel, a custom field refers to a user-defined data field that can be added to contacts or leads within the platform. It allows you to capture and store additional information beyond the standard fields provided by GoHighLevel.
GoHighlevel Custom fields are highly flexible and can be tailored to your business needs. You can create custom fields to collect and store data such as customer preferences, specific demographics, purchase history, or any other relevant information you want to track about your contacts.
Utilizing custom fields gives you a more comprehensive and personalized view of your contacts within GoHighLevel. This additional data can be used for segmentation, personalization of communication, targeted marketing campaigns, or generating reports and analytics.
Creating Custom Fields in GoHighlevel
To create a custom field, login to GoHighlevel, then go to Settings > Custom Fields.
Click the Add Field, and then you must select the type of data you want to hold in the custom field.
So if you wanted to create a custom field to hold a contact’s anniversary date, select the Date Picker since that would be the best fit for the data you want to collect.
If you select a data type on the left side, GoHighlevel will present you with a preview on the right to make sure you choose the correct one.
Once you select the data type, click next.
Name: This is the name GoHighlevel will refer to the new field.
Object: The only option is Contact.
Group: The options to select are Contact, General Info, and Additional Info. This will determine where the field resides on the contacts form. If you choose Contact, the field will be on the main contact form screen. If you choose either General Info or Additional Info, the data will be in a group area that must be expanded before you can view it.
Once the field is created, it will appear in the contact record. This field was added at the contact level.
Where can you use custom fields in GoHighlevel?
Once you create a custom field, it can be used anywhere and everywhere that any other CRM contact field can be used. So that means in a workflow, an email, an sms message, even the social planner. You can access custom fields anywhere you see this tag system or the custom value menu.
GoHighlevel Custom Fields Conclusion
To have an effective CRM system, it must be capable of allowing its users to extend the fields within a contact record to allow better capture of data. The GoHighlevel platform was built around this premise and has incorporated the CRM system into every tool in the platform.
