What are GoHighlevel Trigger Links?
A “trigger link” is a term commonly used in the context of marketing automation and email marketing. It refers to a hyperlink or URL that triggers a specific action or event within a marketing automation system or software when clicked by a recipient.
Here’s how a trigger link typically works:
- A marketer includes a trigger link in an email or message sent to a subscriber or contact.
- When the recipient clicks on the trigger link, it activates a predefined action or behavior within the marketing automation platform.
- The triggered action can vary depending on the marketing automation system and the specific campaign setup. It could be adding the recipient to a particular email sequence, updating their contact status, initiating a specific workflow, or performing other automated tasks.
Trigger links are often used to segment contacts based on their interests or actions. For example, suppose a subscriber clicks on a trigger link related to a specific product or service. The marketing automation system can tag them as interested in that offering and send them targeted content or follow-up communications.
What is GoHighlevel/Highlevel?
GoHighlevel, or just Highlevel as its users call it, is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform for marketing agencies and small businesses. The GoHighlevel platform offers every tool needed to run a business successfully at a fixed monthly cost. The GoHighlevel platform allows you to Whitelabel their software so agencies can use this platform and brand it like it was their own. This allows agencies to create a Software as a Service (SaaS) business and an additional monthly recurring revenue stream.
Typically, agencies would perform a job for their client, like building a website or running Facebook ads, only to have the job end or the client cancel their service. Now, agencies have to continue to market to find another client. Now, with GoHighlevel, you can migrate your clients off whatever CRM, email marketing tool, phone system, or funnel software they may be using and run their business entirely off the GoHighlevel platform. The best thing about this is that your clients pay you monthly for these services. You can charge $297, $497, or whatever you want to charge for these services, and your client continues to pay for these each month like a utility, creating a stable recurring monthly revenue.
GoHighlevel sets no limits for its users on any paid plan so that you can have unlimited contacts, websites, funnels, email or text templates, and workflows. There are also no limits for storage, so you can host as many videos, files, documents, or images as you or your clients may have.

To set up a trigger link, log into your account, go to Marketing, then Trigger Links, and click the Add Link button.
The name of the link should define what the link is used for, and the URL is the path. Once you click save, the Trigger Link appears in the Trigger Links list for use throughout the GoHighlevel system.
How to use Trigger Links in GoHighlevel?
To use a trigger link once created, you can go to the email or SMS builder and insert the link into any message you want using the trigger links menu button. Type your email or SMS message when you want, then insert the trigger link where needed.
Trigger links can also be used when creating hyperlinks from existing text or images in your emails. For text, you would highlight the text you want to hyperlink, then click on the hyperlink button on the toolbar. You would choose the link list drop-down to access any trigger link in your account. Now, the text represents the trigger link.
If you ever wanted to create custom unsubscribe links, trigger links work great for tracking them.
For an image, you must select the image, click on the tag icon in the link field, and then choose trigger links from that menu to have the image be the trigger link.
You can also use images for unsubscribe links as well.
Analyze Trigger Links Activity
Now that you have set up all your Trigger Links and are using them in your emails and text messages, you will want to see how your customers interact with them. This will require that you look at the Analyze area of Trigger Links.
On this screen, you will see all your trigger links and the statistics of how many times they have been used.
If you want to track which person clicked on the trigger link,, you must use a workflow. Create a workflow and use the trigger link clicked trigger to start the workflow. Filter the trigger event to the exact trigger link you want to track. Now the workflow starts, you can tag the person who clicked on it or do any number of automation for the contact.
